Sports Jounalism Workshop will be offered in June at Ramapo College in the MBA Lecture Hall, room B224 for a total of four evenings from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This workshop will be lead by a sports writer from The Record. The focus of this workshop is to learn how to cover various sporting events, interview subjects, and encourage young writers to start writing and blogging for the paper. This workshop serves high school students.

Victory Swimming is proud to have the following outstanding high school swimming coaches to run its clinics.
Thomas Viscardi
Coach Viscardi is the head coach of Northern Highlands Swim Team in Allendale, NJ. He was named North Jersey Coach of the Year in 2004 and Bergen County Coach of the Year in 2008. In his four years as a head swim coach at Northern Highlands, his team has won seven league titles and was named North Jersey Team of the Year for 2005-2006 and 2008-2009 (Girls) and 2007-2008 (Boys). Previous to his four yeas as head coach at Highlands, he served three years as the varsity swimming head coach at River Dell High School in Oradell, NJ where he started the program. His other coaching experiences include boys and girls soccer, winter track, spring track, and girls volleyball. Recently, Coach Viscardi's Highlands Boys and Girls Swim Teams both won State Sectional Championships for the 2007-2008 season.
Michael Ives
Coach Ives is the head coach of Northern Valley Demarest Swim Team. After its inaugural season in 2001, the NV team has won 9 NBIL Championships, 2 State Sectional Titles and holds 6 county records. He was named Bergen County Coach of the Year in both 2004 and 2006, and his Demarest Team was named North Jersey Team of the Year for 2005-2006 (Boys) and 2006-2007 (Girls). In the program’s short existence, nine swimmers have gone on to compete on the collegiate level at Division I, II and III schools. Coach Ives’ experience includes USS, NCAA and Masters level swimming, as well as his years coaching with the GBCY TIDE program.
Shawn Buchanan
Coach Buchanan is currently the head coach of the Pascack Valley Regional Swim Team. He started the program four years ago for the Pascack Valley Regional District. Coach Buchanan has over 8 years of experience coaching at the high school level. He was named the Girls' Swim Coach of the Year for the NBIL Conference for the 2006-2007 season. His Pascack swim team has become a strong program, highlighted by the girls' team qualifying for the state tournament during the 2007-2008 season, which was the first time in school history. For the past two years, the girls' team has placed 2nd in the division behind Northern Highlands High School. Outside of coaching, he is an active member of the Masters Swim Program at the Wyckoff YMCA and has completed over 30 triathlons, including two Ironman Triathlons (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.1 mile run).
Gary Bach Coach Bach is the assistant coach of the Northern Highlands Swim Team in Allendale, NJ. In his first year as assistant, the 2008-2009 teams finished with impressive records, were NBIAL Champions, placed 2nd in the County Meet, and were State-Sectional Finalist. Coach Bach is also the offensive/defensive line coach of the Northern Highlands Football Team. A 2002 graduate of Northern Highlands, Coach Bach brings years of experience as a former club and high school swimmer, and was an All-Bergen County selection in 2001. He is currently in his second year as a Health & Physical Education teacher at his alma-mater.
